Have you witnessed a crime?

Report the crime

If you have witnessed a crime, you need to report it to the police immediately.

You can report the crime by telephone, in writing (including email), or by going to a police station in person. The police may also take your report at the scene of the crime.

What you tell the police is very important to the case. Your statement will help the police resolve the case, and your statement will be important if the case goes to court.

Write down your experiences

It is a good idea to write down your experiences right after they happen – for example, about what was said or done or a description of the perpetrator.
