About the Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice handles tasks for the entire judicial system, including the police and the prosecution service, the court system, and the prison and probation service. The Ministry is also responsible for the legislation governing foundations, data protection legislation, and immigration legislation, including the rules on asylum, humanitarian residence permits, family reunification, the EU, citizenship, and visas.
